A rich historical heritage
Charlemont, built by Charles V in 1555, played a strategic role for almost 400 years in Europe.
It has experienced several wars and was improved by Vauban in the 18th century and by General Serré des Rivières in the 19th century.
In the 20th century, it served as a commando training center. And today, it is a protected historical monument that can be visited.

A wide range of activities
With all the activities on offer in Charlemont, you won't be bored! You can visit the west side of the fortifications with the little train or electric scooter and visit the east coast on a guided tour or on a self-guided tour.
Become a commando for a few hours by completing the treetop adventure course, inspired by the equipment of the former commando training center, and by taking part in a game of laser tag.

An immersion in nature
Other reasons to come to Charlemont, its rich natural heritage. The fort is located south of the National Nature Reserve of the Pointe de Givet (this part is not open to the public).
Thanks to a rehabilitation project, they were able to carry out an ecological inventory of this site. Animals (lizards, falcons, carnations, orchids, etc.) and plants are visible at the fort.
