This castle is a remarkable example of Mosan Renaissance architecture, a subtle compromise between military constraints and the splendor of a princely residence (1th century). Shaped since the XNUMXth century by successive owners, the castle of Hierges has played a determining role in the transmission of Byzantine knowledge during the returns from the Crusades. It was also at the heart of the power struggles between François XNUMXer and Charles Quint. games of power and strategies which influenced the history of this region.
