Centre d'information du public (CNPE de Chooz)

The Chooz Nuclear Power Generation Center (CNPE) is located 10 kilometers from Givet and 60 kilometers from Charleville-Mézières and Namur in Belgium. Located on nearly 200 hectares in the heart of the Ardennes Regional Nature Park, it has two production units of 1450 megawatts each, of the latest generation pressurized water reactor type. In 2020, the Chooz nuclear power plant produced 12,77 TWh, which represents nearly 30% of the electricity consumption of the Grand-Est region.
Nearly 1000 people, employees of EDF or industrial partners, work all year round on the Chooz site. They carry out professions in areas such as safety, operation, maintenance, engineering, environment, etc. From 1967 to 1991, EDF, in partnership with Belgium, operated a first unit, Chooz A. D With a power of 305 megawatts, it is the first pressurized water reactor in France. Since 2007, this unit has been under deconstruction. The Public Information Center welcomes you free of charge and without an appointment to introduce you to nuclear energy. It is open: – Outside school periods: only on Wednesdays from 13:30 p.m. to 17:30 p.m. – During French and Belgian school holidays: Monday to Friday from 13:30 p.m. to 17:30 p.m. Closed on weekends.
