Musée de l'Ardoise Michel Paradon

Visit to the Michel Paradon Slate Museum in Fumay.
Place of history :
In the completely rehabilitated former Carmelite convent, the daily life of the slate workers is revealed.
The coffee swallowed on the kitchen table, next to the stove. The overalls on and the bike straddled.
The arrival at the mine, greets him at Saint Barbara. Then go underground or stay on the surface to split, claw, chop.
The pay collected at the coffee counter, a real place of life in the city. "The legend says that there were as many cafes as there were slate holes".

Exhibition's venue :
Throughout 2024, our programming was enriched by a variety of exhibitions. Among these were inspiring works such as "Vie d'Artisme" in painting, the artistic captures of Anne-Marie Lepage in photos, the impressive sculptures of Marianne Van Nunen. But also shows, such as that of the group Miss Enko and its "bar of silence".
These events brought a diverse artistic dimension to our cultural venue.

Looking ahead to 2025, exciting new exhibitions are planned to continue to amaze our audiences, encourage creativity and develop a taste for the arts.
In addition, find a warm and interesting visit on the history of the city and the slate workers as well as a library upstairs.

For more information on upcoming events, visit the Fumay town website.

The museum is open Monday to Friday from 14:30 pm to 18:30 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm.
