Today, I am introducing you to the Domaine Château Le Risdoux from Vireux-Wallerand. I was able to go there to introduce you to this absolutely magnificent place.
A little historical reminder about the castle:
The estate had a significant economic activity in the region. Before, it was a farm that consisted of a mill with barn, a tannery, houses for workers, stables and a chapel.
It was bought by the Belgian King Leopold II, this estate served as a second home for his mistress's family during the interwar period.
ACCOMMODATION:
The field has 8 accommodations, in total they can accommodate 60 people.
THE CASTLE
Castle Xth century, he obtained 4 stars as large capacity gîte welcoming 20 people.
The place is ideal for relaxing and sharing a good time with family or friends. They will welcome you for a weekend, midweek, week, or longer in a unique setting on the banks of the Meuse and in the heart of the French Ardennes.

LE LAVANDIN GITE
This ancient workers' house The tannery has been transformed into a holiday home for 10 14-people.
The cottage is composed of two houses with communicating ground floors maintaining the privacy of the sleeping area on the 1st floor.
LA CHAPELLE “Jeantin” GITE
This authentic chapel, located on the edge of the small river “Le Risdoux”, has been recently renovated. You can sleep on the ground floor on the comfortable sofa bed next to the wood-burning stove or in the mezzanine which offers views of the vast forests.
For these two lodgings you have the possibility of a late departure on Sundays and public holidays, until the afternoon.
CHAMPAGNE GITE
This cottage can accommodate a family with 2-3 children or 4 adultsIt has 2 bedrooms and a kitchen equipped to prepare your family meals.
THE STREAM COTTAGE
This cottage is a luxury holiday home, it is a former groom's house, completely renovated, combining historical charm and modern elegance. Discover a bathroom with rain shower, bathtub and double sink and a wood stove for warm evenings.
BASIL COTTAGE
The cottage has been refurbished in accordance with the old style. It has a capacity to accommodate 7 people for both Handicapped, because there is a bedroom on the ground floor with bathroom and WC.
THE TINY HOUSE COTTAGE
Situated near the river, private terrace with views of the valley, an interior made of wood and natural materials. Everything you need for a pleasant stay in the Tiny House.
SUNFLOWER COTTAGE
The cottage is ideal for 6 people or an family with 3 to 4 children.
EVENTS:
All events are possible at the Domaine Château du Risdoux, wedding, communion, baptism, family reunion, seminars and many more…They will help you to make your dream come true and will do everything possible to ensure that your event remains engraved forever in your mind, but also in that of your loved ones.
3 rooms are available so that you can experience a magical moment:
- “The Barn”: room that can accommodate 20 to 200 people and it offers a panoramic view of the Meuse valley.
- “The authentic”: la castle dining room offers space for 30 people.
- “The Stables”: It is a spacious room that can be used as additional reception or ceremony space.
Please note Parties are only allowed upon request in order to maintain the calm and comfort of the place. Everything that is fare students, bachelor parties and drinking parties are prohibited in all the houses.
OUTSIDE THE DOMAIN:
The outdoor area of the estate will immediately convince you. swimming pool with sand, children's games, tables with parasols, a terrace by a stream…The perfect place to spend a pleasant moment.
WHAT’S NEW IN 2025:
The Estate being on the Greenway, they offer a small food truck au banks of the Meuse for cyclists, hikers or walkers. This allows them to do pause while enjoying the view.
Soft drinks, paninis and ice creams are on the menu. It is open every day from within 11 to 18 hours except when the place is privatized.
