The Val d'Ardenne, a gem in the heart of the cross-border Ardennes

The Val d'Ardenne is a small territory located in the north of the Ardennes department (08), but located in the heart of the French, Belgian and Luxembourg Ardennes. It has 19 municipalities spread over 232 km2 and has approximately 27 inhabitants.

This small, long territory is crossed from north to south by the Meuse, which makes it the main traffic axis and gives our valley its very particular character.

On a human scale, the Val d'Ardenne gives pride of place to outdoor activities. Hiking and cycling enthusiasts will find what they are looking for on the greenway that runs along the Meuse and on the many circuits through the woods that dot the area.

Hiking in the Ardennes Valley

There are many circuits across the Val d'Ardenne region to the delight of walking enthusiasts.

The greenway, flat and tarmacked, is ideal for families with pushchairs for example. It can be done in small sections between 2 municipalities.

For those who prefer to put on crampons and trek through the woods, there are numerous loops, from a few kilometers to several dozen kilometers, that should please them.

and if that's not enough, some loops are connected to each other by links, allowing you to connect two municipalities.

Mountain biking in the Ardennes woods

The Ardennes Valley is part of the Ardennes Regional Natural Park which manages the marked FFC Meuse and Semoy mountain bike trails, which means that these trails are regularly checked so that you can practice your favorite sport in complete safety.

11 circuits cross our valley, all connected to each other, but others, further south, towards the Semoy valley, allow you to expand the playing field and put your calves to the test.

Hunting in the Ardennes Valley

Where there is a wooded region, there is hunting. But don’t let that stop you from coming to visit our beautiful region.

Already because the hunt only lasts 5 months, from October to the end of February, which leaves us all the beautiful months to enjoy the Ardennes nature.

Then because hunting is regulated, the days must be announced and hunters have the obligation to report hunts in progress.

The Val d'Ardenne tourist office team will provide you with effective information on hunting throughout the season.

Respect nature

In the Val d'Ardenne, nature is omnipresent, it is often what attracted you to our region. Help us preserve it, with simple little gestures.

Respect the signs, avoid venturing onto unmarked paths, avoid fires and cigarettes, do not pull leaves or branches from trees, do not swim anywhere, etc.

all the good practices can be found in the little guide to good practices in natural environments

Visit the Ardennes Valley

From the Spanish House in Revin to Charlemont in Givet, the Val d'Ardenne is full of tourist sites scattered throughout the territory.

Before each visit, remember to check the opening days and hours. Generally, the sites are open from April and close at the end of September, but some remain open all year round.

Getting around in Val d'Ardenne

The territory being located in a rural area, we do not have a very developed public transport infrastructure. The car remains the most efficient means to reach the Ardennes valley and explore the valley, especially since there is no difficulty in parking in our municipalities.

However, a train line crosses the territory from north to south, linking Givet to Revin and stopping in several towns.
These accept bikes, so you can go exploring by bike in the morning and take the train back to your accommodation in the afternoon.

Book accommodation
