Founded by Dama Ana in 752 , discover the crypt with its pre-Romanesque blue stone columns . Legend has it that Pepin the Short is buried there, although no document proves it…
This building was for a long time a place of pilgrimage where the relics of Saint-Ermel, missionary bishop of the pagus aduinnensis civitas leodiensis , were venerated.
You can visit it all year round by asking for the keys at the Vireux-Wallerand tourist office!

The iconic sites of this village include the Church of St. John the Baptist , the communal mill , and the Duel Cross . Most of the castle was destroyed in the 16th century and rebuilt in the Renaissance style , with modern comforts and gun ports, starting in 1560. Today it is privately owned , but it still showcases the military architecture of the Mosan region.
