Le circuit Ardoises et Légendes
Here, as in Fumay, slate is king. It is she who comes to color the landscape with a blue and purple tint at the same time. This circuit along the Mohron stream has 7 interpretive panels showing you the work in the slate quarries and their natural environment.
Route details
Description
1/ Take the small road and reach the Labotte mill (hotel-restaurant).
2/ Continue straight on the wide forest path.
3/ Cross the Fond-d'Oury slate quarry (1810; on the right, entrance to the illuminated gallery) and continue along the Morhon stream which leads to a small slate bridge. Cross this bridge and follow the stream on the right to a place called the rock of Madame-de-Cormont.
4/ Cross a ford and descend along the stream to the right.
5/ At the intersection of the catchment, turn left for 100 m and cross the road. Follow the path on the other side of the road for 30 m then turn right again towards the Platale viewpoint.
6/ Take a path along the road. About 400 m further down, cross the road again.
7/ Take a grassy path to the right, lined with hedges. Enter the undergrowth by taking the path on the left, then descend to an intersection. Take the path on the right for about 300 m, then catch up with Moulin Labotte by turning left out of the undergrowth.
