Every year on November 11th, the town of Givet comes alive with a unique atmosphere. The streets fill with colorful stalls, the characteristic scent of smoked onions, and the squares host numerous fairground attractions: it's the Onion Fair, an unmissable event for locals and visitors alike, coming from all over the region… and even from Belgium!

The Givet Onion Fair, a Napoleonic tradition that is still alive
It is impossible to talk about Givet without mentioning its famous Onion Fair! This tradition, established by Napoleon, plunges the town into an atmosphere of celebration and sharing.
Since dawn, traders, producers and artisans have been setting up along the streets. The market stretches as far as the eye can see, from the station street to the end of Oger street, crossing the American bridge, mixing the smells of spices, cheeses and local charcuterie with the inimitable aroma of smoked onions and smoked garlic.
Friendly atmosphere and entertainment for the whole family
Families stroll among the stalls, a cone of chestnuts in one hand and a steaming mulled wine in the other. There's something for everyone: vendors from all over France with their local produce, winter clothing, toys, sweets, local Givet shopkeepers opening their businesses, and also stalls run by local associations. Meanwhile, the music and lights of the carousels enchant the children.

Rediscover Givet and its charm on the banks of the Meuse
Taking part in the Onion Fair is a chance to rediscover Givet in a new light, with its picturesque streets, impressive citadel, and the atmosphere of a small Ardennes port on the banks of the Meuse. You can stroll at your leisure, taste local delicacies, laugh, and share experiences. In short, you'll have a truly authentic time.
A popular festival symbolizing conviviality and local know-how
This fair is more than just an event: it's a symbol of conviviality and local expertise, a timeless day where everyone comes together, from the youngest to the oldest. So, whether you're a fan of traditional markets, curious about local flavors, or simply looking for a festive atmosphere, head to Givet every November 11th for the Onion Fair!
