The drivers of local cars must respect with regard to their customers the maximum prices fixed by the prefectural decrees provided for in article 5 of the decree n° 87.238 of April 6, 1987 regulating the tariffs of the taxi races.
THE RACE PRICE IS DETERMINED BY:
– the pick-up charge, a fixed amount that appears on the meter at the start of the ride
– the per-kilometer rate (which varies depending on whether it is day or night, etc.)
– the waiting or slow-moving fare (which replaces the per-kilometer fare in case of traffic jams or vehicle stops)
A taxi driver may also ask you for an additional charge:
– if your journey starts at a train station, port, or airport
– if it accepts a 4th adult passenger
– if you are transporting an animal
– if you have bulky luggage or parcels (luggage over 5kg)
FARE AMOUNT: It must be clearly displayed on the meter.
You can check if it matches the amount the driver is asking for.
